Lost Memories

There she sat. A girl no older than the tender age of eleven. Her pale skin was marred with grit and dirt, her long, normally velvety blonde hair was matted with muck and clung to her skin. Emerald eyes peered from behind dark, long eyelashes. Her blonde, upward tilted eyebrows usually gave her youthful face a cheeky look. But now, the lone female was battered and bleeding. No trace of the happier days lingered in her haunted eyes.

"Hello, are you lost?"

"Where are you parents, do you need help finding them?"

She was lost.

She had lost herself, her life, her memories. Nothing made sense, everything was blurred. People all looked and sounded the same. Places looked the same. So here she was, alone in a forest, far from anything familiar and safe. She could have been running for months, days, weeks. She didn't know. Days came and went within a blink of an eye. All she knew was that she had to keep moving. Run. Hide. Move faster and faster. She was being chased. Hunted down like a fox. Outnumbered. Overpowered.

The monsters were awful. Hideous creatures that prowled through the day and night alike. Minotaur's. Hell Hounds. Hydras. The one thing this young girl knew was that they were all connected. All sewn into history. They were monsters from Greek Mythology. Though, no one else could see them. Only her. They came closer and closer to maiming her with each passing day. She had to stop, had to rest. Her eyes felt so very, very tired. They stung and burned as she forced herself to stay awake.

"Look!" A voice broke the silence of the forest. It sounded so far away, so faint.

"She's definitely a half-blood." A half-blood? She did not know what that was.

"Quick, we need to get her to Camp..." The voices were now merely whispers within her exhausted mind, as she finally gave into unconsciousness.
